Furlough Scheme Changes
July 6, 2021
As lockdown restrictions start to ease, there are changes to the Furlough scheme as it starts to wind down over the summer months. Employees will continue to be supported with up to 80% of normal pay (up to £2500 per month) but the amount contributed by the government will gradually reduce.
- Until June 30th employers were able to continue claiming 80% of workers’ pay.
- For the month of July employers will be required to contribute 10% of workers’ pay with the government paying 70%.
- For the months of August and September employers will be required to contribute 20% of workers’ pay, with the government paying 60%.
- The furlough scheme is expected to close at the end of September.
