Extension to ACAS Conciliation Period

Before an employment dispute reached the stage of employment tribunal, potential claimants must contact ACAS.
The role of ACAS is to offer early conciliation which offers the opportunity for both parties to attempt to reach an agreement before the dispute proceeds to a formal employment tribunal.
With effect from 1 December 2020 the period of early conciliation is to be extended by law from one month to six weeks. At the same time an optional extension of up to 14 days is removed.
